For the second straight week, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has leveled a suspension against a New England Revolution player. This time it’s very deserving.
Teal Bunbury will be suspended two matches for this action against New York Red Bulls defender Damien Perrinelle:
Unlike last week where I questioned Benjamin Angoua’s one game suspension for violent conduct/serious foul play, there’s no question as to what Bunbury’s done here. He’s made contact off the ball by striking an opponent’s head/neck area and this is basically the definition of violent conduct in the Laws of the Game.
