MLSSoccer.com recently released an article trying tto pinpoint the league's most underrated player. Vancouver Whitecaps' Steven Beitashour and Orlando City's Cristian Higuita were nominated, as was the New England Revolution's Scott Caldwell.
The recognition isn't surprising as Caldwell's contributions have long been underappreciated nationally. Locally, the Massachusetts native is adored by fans and teammates. In fact, Caldwell was named as both the Players' Player and Team MVP in 2015.
In the MLSSoccer.com article, writer Sam Stejskal states that Caldwell "excels at doing the simple things right" and "gives New England's most skilled players the freedom to do their thing.
