New England Revolution head coach Brad Friedel was once interested in signing midfielder Jack Rodwell, according to ESPN commentator Taylor Twellman.
Reporter Sam Stejskal says that Rodwell will soon join an MLS team. A move to the United States could’ve happened earlier, however, as Friedel once pursued the 27-year-old.
Rodwell has been with Sunderland since 2014, having previously played for Manchester United (2012-14) and Everton (2007-12). After representing England at various youth levels, he made three appearances with the senior team.
The rumor is certainly interesting, as the Revs ultimately signed Wilfred Zahibo and Luis Caicedo as options to play defensive midfielder.
