Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth made four saves, but conceded the game’s lone goal to NYCFC’s Frank Lampard in the 58th minute, as the midfielder redirected a cross from Thomas McNamara past the Revs’ goalkeeper with his knee.
Forwards Kei Kamara, Teal Bunbury, and Femi Hollinger-Janzen paced New England in shots with two apiece, while defender Chris Tierney led the club with three chances created.
