Revolution 0, Atlanta 7: Revs make the wrong type of history

The New England Revolution made club history on Wednesday night when they conceded seven goals against Atlanta United FC. The result was the team’s worst-ever defeat.

The Revs found themselves in a hole just two minutes in when Miguel Almiron put Josef Martinez behind the defense. Martinez made the most of his narrow angle by scoring his eleventh goal of the season.

Things went from bad to worse when Xavier Kouassi was shown a straight red in the 16th minute. Referee Baldomero Toledo used video review to assess Kouassi’s stomp on Yamil Asad.
