FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (11-10-12, 45 pts.) clinched an Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoff berth with a 2-0 win vs. New York City FC before a crowd of 28,602 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday evening. Forward Teal Bunbury scored game-winning goal in the 66th minute to officially secure New England's first playoff appearance since 2015. Gustavo Bou doubled the host's lead with a chipped goal in the 89th minute – his ninth goal since debuting with the Revolution on July 17.
After opening the season with a 2-8-2 record, the Revolution responded with a historic turnaround, going 9-2-10 en route to securing the club’s 14th trip to the postseason, and first since 2015.
