CARSON, Calif. – The New England Revolution (4-8-4, 16 pts.) defeated the LA Galaxy (9-6-1, 28 pts.), 2-1, at Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday evening. Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena made his Revolution debut on the sidelines against his former club in tonight’s win after being appointed to the position on May 14. Arena was joined on the bench by newly appointed technical director, Curt Onalfo.

The game’s opening goal came on a strike from Revolution midfielder Cristian Penilla, whose 45th-minute tally off of an assist from Carles Gil gave the visitors the lead just before the halftime whistle.
