PORTLAND, Ore. – The New England Revolution (1-2-1; 4 pts.) played the Portland Timbers (3-1-1; 10 pts.), to a 1-1 draw at Providence Park on Sunday evening. By earning the draw, New England snapped Portland’s seven-game regular season home winning streak, which dated back to July 23, 2016.
Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri put the home side ahead early with a stunning volley in the 12th minute, but Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen responded more than an hour of gameplay later with an equalizer in the 84th minute. With the goal, Nguyen surpasses Steve Ralston and moves into sole possession of second place on New England’s all-time goal scoring chart with 43 career tallies.
