From 2009-2016, Darrius Barnes made 129 appearances for the New England Revolution. His grit and versatility made him a fan favorite in Foxboro. But in 2017, for the first time in his professional career, Barnes will suit up for a new club—the New York Cosmos.
On Friday, the Cosmos announced the signing of Barnes, who will join the club ahead of Saturday’s season opener vs. FC Puerto Rico.
“Darrius is yet another great addition to our 2017 squad,” said Cosmos Head Coach and Sporting Director Giovanni Savarese in a team release. “As we get closer to our season opener, we want to make sure we prepare our roster the best possible way and adding an experienced player like Darrius is getting us closer to where we want to be.
