Former New England Revolution midfielder Tyler Rudy announced his retirement from soccer on Friday.
Rudy, 23, played at Georgetown University, collecting seven goals and 12 assists in four seasons. In 2015, he signed with the Revs and was soon sent on loan to the Rochester Rhinos. Here, he became a regular, making 14 appearances for a Rhinos side that lifted the USL trophy. Rudy was unable to participate in the championship game because of a torn superior retinaculum.
Rudy was invited to the Revolution’s 2016 preseason camp but didn’t end up signing a contract.
