FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution defender Jalil Anibaba was selected by Nashville SC in the third round of the 2019 MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday evening. The Revolution will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money as compensation for having a player selected in the Expansion Draft.
Anibaba, 31, spent two seasons with the Revolution after signing with the club as a free agent on Feb. 9, 2018. The Fontana, Calif. native recorded 53 games played, 48 starts, one goal, and three assists with New England. For his nine-year MLS career, which also includes stints with the Chicago Fire (2011-13), Seattle Sounders FC (2014), Sporting Kansas City (2015), and the Houston Dynamo (2016-17), Anibaba owns 219 career appearances, 201 starts, six goals, and 14 assists across 18,530 minutes of league play.
