Brad Knighton announced his retirement on Wednesday but that doesn’t mean he is leaving New England.
Knighton was named head coach of the New England Revolution Academy’s Under-17 squad. The goalkeeper was able to obtain his U.S. Soccer “B” Coaching License during his playing career.
Knighton spoke about how he ended up with the Academy coaching job on Wednesday.
“I looked at some other different areas as well whether it be playing at a different team, player-coach at a different team, just getting into coaching, kind of starting my own thing, and so I kind of weighed everything, but for me and my family, it just made the most sense with the time being, you know, I wasn’t sure if I was going to have the opportunity to coach here with the Academy and there was an opportunity that presented itself kind of late in the process,” Knighton said.
