Boston Breakers waive forward Morgan Marlborough

Boston originally acquired Marlborough in an offseason trade before the 2015 season, losing Heather O'Reilly and gaining Marlborough and defender Kassey Kallman.

While Kallman immediately became an integral part of the Breakers defense, Marlborough was slower to get her start and never quite found her footing for the team. She had three goals in 16 appearances over 701 minutes for the team last season and got switched back and forth between starter and sub by former head coach Tom Durkin.

This season, Marlborough's only appearance was a sub in against the Seattle Reign. It appears that new head coach Matt Beard intends to rely more on his starting roster and new signing Elise Krieghoff as opposed to using Marlborough as a sub for the rest of the season, or possibly even a starter closer to the Olympics when Kyah Simon would presumably be gone on Australian national team duty.
