While watching Zach Wilson’s 52-yard touchdown run on Sunday against the Jaguars, it’s a play that will likely be a teachable moment for players who, while trying not to get flagged, still need to make sure they prevent a quarterback from getting more yards than necessary.
Wilson’s play was a prime example of why that’s so important. On his scoring run, as Wilson approached the 30-yard line, Jaguars safety Rudy Ford closed in as the Jets quarterback neared the sideline.
Clearly expecting Wilson to go out of bounds, Ford slowed up and didn’t put a hit on the Jets quarterback, and he himself ended up drifting out of bounds.
