With Reggie Wayne, Patriots pump up rivalry with Colts"

FOXBORO — The subplots surrounding this season’s game between the Patriots and the Colts just keep on coming.

In a move rumored for days, the Patriots signed former Indianapolis receiver Reggie Wayne to a one-year deal yesterday.

Wayne was drafted by the Colts in 2001 and spent 14 years with the franchise, compiling 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns. His reception and yardage marks are tops among active receivers.

So when the Patriots travel to Indianapolis on Oct. 18 for a Sunday Night Football showdown, it will not only be a rematch of the AFC Championship Game that set off Deflategate, but one of the Colts’ most iconic players returning in the uniform of a hated rival.
