FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Sunday brought a string of tough injury news to the New England Patriots, as running back Dion Lewis will undergo a "clean-up" surgery on his left knee and right tackle Sebastian Vollmer is "likely headed to injured reserve," according to the Boston Globe. Vollmer is dealing with a nagging hip injury, according to Comcast SportsNet.
The trickle-down effect of this news is that third-year running back James White and sixth-year offensive tackle Marcus Cannon will be taking on more significant roles for the start of 2016 -- and in the case of Cannon, possibly throughout the entire season.
