Apple TV set-top customers, starting in the fall of 2015, will be able watch CBS Sports' coverage of many different sports live -- and in full high-definition -- under a new agreement with The Eye. But they will not be able to watch National Football League games.
Why not? The NFL has restrictions on how its broadcasts are allowed to be distributed, which includes blocks on watching its coveted live-game coverage via Internet-video devices like Apple TV. That's in large part because of payments the league receives from its TV broadcast licenses, which are in turn driven by payments from pay-TV providers.
