What we learned in Patriots’ preseason opener

After dissecting the film from the Patriots’ 22-11 loss to the Packers in Thursday’s preseason opener, here are 25 thoughts on the game. Some observations are more specific to a particular play, while others have more of a long-range viewpoint.

1. It was a curious decision to play Tom Brady, but he walked off the field healthy. There was nothing to glean from his performance after a red-hot start to camp.

2. Jimmy Garoppolo’s adjustments stuck out most from his play, as he stopped eying the difficult throws to Josh Boyce after his third series and took the easy stuff with Chris Harper, Brandon Gibson and James White.
