What releasing center Nick Leverett means for the Patriots

Coming off a 41-21 loss to the Houston Texans, the New England Patriots decided to let go of a member of their offensive line. Nick Leverett, a one-time starter at center this season, was released on Monday in what can only be described as a swift fall from grace.

Leverett was the Patriots’ backup center the first four weeks of the season, and took over as the starter following David Andrews’ season-ending shoulder injury. He started one game, and in around 24 hours lost both his starting position and his spot on the roster.
