FOXBOROUGH — Midway through conversation Sunday, Patriots tight end Clay Harbor, who earned himself a roster spot despite intense competition at his position, caught himself on auto pilot.
He had to laugh.
"For me," Harbor was saying, "it was just getting back on the field and showing that I can help the team whether it's special teams, offense, defense..."
Harbor quickly corrected himself.
"Well, offense and special teams," he said.
The Pats have not asked Harbor to play defense, but if they did, it would not be a first for him.
