There used to be a long-running soap opera called “As the World Turns” that aired daily for 54 years through 2010. It appears New England picked up that theme, “As the Season Turns” and has been playing out its own drama week in and week out throughout the 2024 season.
Early September episodes had the focus on promise and potential, especially after an unexpected Week 1 win against a strong opponent. We rode that storyline for a bit, but as in all soap operas, tragedy strikes. Six straight losses stirred up plenty of fan angst and discontent. Two wins in three weeks against the Jets and Bears sparked some excitement — only to be followed up by three losses in a row and a bottom-of-the-battle ranking.
