FOXBORO -- Vince Wilfork is on to cooking smoked meats.

The former Patriots defensive tackle announced his retirement from the NFL on Twitter on Monday after 13 seasons in the league, 11 of which were with the Pats.

"No more cleats, I'm moving on to smoked meats, fellas," Wilfork said in a video sponsored by the Kingsford charcoal company. "Peace out. I'm outta here. Later."

Wilfork was drafted by the Patriots in 2004 and became a staple of the team's defensive line for over a decade. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion before playing for the Houston Texans for the last two seasons of his career.
