FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots downgraded rookie cornerback Cyrus Jones to out for Sunday's regular-season finale at Miami, a decision that has a trickle-down effect among reserve cornerbacks Jonathan Jones and Justin Coleman, and also in the punt return game with receiver Julian Edelman and safety Patrick Chung.
Cyrus Jones was the team's No. 5 corner in Saturday's 41-3 victory over the New York Jets, playing behind Jonathan Jones. Coleman, who was inactive, now projects to slide into that role.
Meanwhile, Cyrus Jones also was integrated into the punt-return mix in the third quarter, reducing some of the workload on Edelman.
