Training camp observations: Bill Belichick gives the veterans a day off

The Patriots have wrapped up their seventh practice of training camp. It was the fifth practice in full pads. Here are the Herald’s observations.

Attendance notes:
Nate Solder missed his first practice of camp. The exact reason hasn’t been disclosed, but Bill Belichick gives him personal days off to handle his son’s health checkups.

Matthew Slater suffered an undisclosed injury yesterday and didn’t practice today for the first time.

Duron Harmon, Mike Gillislee, Danny Amendola, Malcolm Mitchell and David Jones again worked on the conditioning field after the early walkthrough and stretching.

Cody Hollister missed his fifth straight practice with an undisclosed injury.
