Todd Bowles alters dynamics of the Patriots-Jets rivalry

FOXBORO — The Border War hasn’t produced much in the way of meaningful games in recent years.

Mostly, we’ve only had a lot of Rex Ryan bluster, and tons of bulletin board material pouring out of the Jets facility in Florham Park, N.J.

But with the dawn of the Todd Bowles era, there’s a much different vibe emanating from the south.

Perhaps this season’s Patriots-Jets clashes will be the start of something new for the AFC East rivals. First place is up for grabs in their Gillette Stadium showdown today.

That’s not a misprint. It’s Week 7, and the division lead is one of the major storylines driving the matchup between the unbeaten Patriots (5-0) and once beaten Jets (4-1).
