The youngster who sparked a viral social-media video on Sunday by tauntingly telling New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton that the former NFL MVP was about to be poor has issued an apology via his Twitter account.
A high school football player for Perkiomen Valley in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Jseth Owens wrote he “let my competitive side get the best of me” and called the encounter “a huge miscommunication.”
The encounter happened at the NFA 7v7 East Regional in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Newton attended the tournament with the teams sponsored by the Cam Newton Foundation.
