Stung by an accusation that his impartiality was compromised, Ted Wells yesterday vehemently defended the findings of his report that led to major sanctions against the Patriots.
Wells specifically called out Tom Brady’s agent, Don Yee, who asserted that Wells did not act independently in his investigation, and he bristled at the notion that his report was unfair.
“I think it is wrong to criticize my independence just because you disagree with my findings,” he said.
The Wells Report led to a four-game suspension for Brady, a $1 million fine for the Patriots and the loss of a first-round draft pick in 2016 and a fourth-rounder in 2017.
