FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —
The New England Patriots are hoping that the third time will be the charm with linebacker Jamie Collins.
The team announced late Wednesday afternoon that it had signed Collins to a contract, the terms of which were undisclosed.
The player's agent, David Canter, announced the signing a few hours earlier via Twitter.
Collins saw action for the Detroit Lions during the first two weeks of the season, but he was released on Sept. 28.
The 31-year-old was originally drafted by the Patriots, who selected him with the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft out of the University of Southern Mississippi.
