HAMPTON — Max Lane has been to Hampton Beach hundreds of times in the past decade.
Lane, a resident of Newburyport, Massachusetts since 2011, will be one of a handful of former New England Patriots at Hampton Beach this Saturday when the Beach Football League holds open tryouts, and then flag and tackle events with the top 40 players. The competition will be held at Hampton Beach State Park at 169 Ocean Blvd.
The Beach Football League is the vision of Tully Banta-Cain, a former Patriot and two-time Super Bowl champion.
The league has had events in California, but Banta-Cain, who played for the Patriots for six of his eight years in the NFL, was looking to bring his game to a New England beach.
