The New England Patriots and free agent running back Steven Jackson will agree to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.
Jackson worked out for the team last week. He is the 18th-leading rusher in NFL history, a player who can run between-the-tackles and catch the ball out of the backfield.
The 32-year-old Jackson has not played in 2015. After a long tenure with the Rams, he played 2013 and 2014 with the Falcons and his production dipped considerably.
He'll join Brandon Bolden, Joey Iosefa and James White in the New England backfield.
