With starter Kenny Pickett out for the foreseeable future due to an ankle injury suffered on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into Week 14 facing questions at the quarterback position. As a result, they decided to bolster their depth for the upcoming Thursday night game against the New England Patriots by signing an ex-Patriots QB.
Trace McSorley, who spent the summer in New England, was added to the practice squad to offer depth behind new starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and his backup, Mason Rudolph.
A sixth-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019, McSorley joined the Patriots in April via a stint with the Arizona Cardinals.
