Even in his first season with the Steelers, and even with his immediate boss being, at that point, a position coach, Arthur Moats could see it in Keith Butler.
“You could just tell where he could see certain things, situational football and understanding — ‘I would like this type of call instead of that type of call,' ” Moats said of Butler, who was Steelers linebackers coach for 12 seasons before being promoted to defensive coordinator this year.
“Now he's actually getting an opportunity to show his smarts in (play-calling) and show his understanding of the game.
