The Patriots will keep quarterback Tom Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Julian Edelman out of tomorrow night's preseason opener against the Saints, according to a source.
Edelman felt some numbness and pins and needles in his twice-surgically repaired left foot during yesterday's practice, so the Pats are throttling down his workload for the time being. He participated in today's workload during the walkthrough portion before departing to the lower field to continue his conditioning. The Patriots aren't worried about his foot, as the numbness is a common issue when scar tissue settles after procedures, but there's no need to get excessive a month before the regular-season opener.
