Source: Pats signing Newhouse with Cannon hurt

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots are signing veteran offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, a source tells ESPN's Field Yates, in a move that adds depth after starting right tackle Marcus Cannon left Sunday's victory in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury.

Newhouse, who is a former teammate of Cannon at Texas Christian, has played in 114 career regular season games (71 starts) for the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers.

Cannon's shoulder injury is not considered season-ending or long-term in nature, according to a source, but the Patriots have been preparing to be without him for Sunday's road game against the Miami Dolphins.
