Patriots running back Dion Lewis might have been the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2015 if it weren't for a torn ACL.
He might make another run at it next season.
Lewis' recovery is moving along smoothly, and at this pace, he will be physically ready for training camp, according to a source. Of course, some six months shy of camp, it's too early to know how the Patriots will prefer to orchestrate the final stages of his rehabilitation, but Lewis has put himself in position for this to be a possibility.
In recent examples, for instance, the Patriots have put restrictions on Rob Gronkowski and Dominique Easley as they returned from knee injuries during training camp, so that type of limited activity could always be up for discussion.
