Slowly but surely, Tom Brady nears the 1,000-yard rushing club

FOXBORO — The first thousand is always the hardest.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has accomplished virtually everything imaginable on the field, and he is now slowly plodding his way toward another milestone. He nearly has 1,000 career rushing yards.

“It only took him 18 years,” backup quarterback Brian Hoyer laughed.

Brady has 968 rushing yards, so he is still at least a couple weeks away from the accomplishment, considering he has never rushed for 32 yards in a single game. And when he gets there, he’ll be the first player in NFL history to cross the 1,000-yard barrier in at least his 18th season.
