Sloppy offensive line continues to hold Patriots back, and possibly delay start of Drake Maye era

Looking simply at some of the final stats, one could get the impression that the New England Patriots offensive line did a fairly decent job on Sunday night. The group surrendered only one sack to the Washington Commanders, and allowed the run game to gain 5.1 yards per carry and 139 overall.

However, the Patriots’ 20-10 loss in the preseason finale was no stellar outing for the group. Far from it, actually: the offensive line looked disjointed against a Commanders defense resting a significant portion of its starters.

Whether it was the starters — from left to right, Chukwuma Okorafor, Sidy Sow, Nick Leverett, Layden Robinson, Michael Onwenu — or the various backups inserted throughout the game, the group had all sorts of issues.
