FOXBOROUGH — Adrian Phillips figured it was fate.
Serena Williams upset Anett Kondravait, the No. 2-ranked player in the world Wednesday to advance in the U.S. Open. She’ll next play on Friday night in New York, when conveniently Phillips and the New England Patriots are off. So he and several teammates are hunting for tickets to one of the most anticipated tennis matches ever.
“I’m going to spend a little bit. But it’s my last chance to see her. I’ve always wanted to see her play,” Phillips said. “Our schedules are finally aligned to be able to make that happen.
