FOXBORO — The Patriots won’t ask Scott Chandler to be Rob Gronkowski, nor would he assume such a magnanimous responsibility.
But Tom Brady does need more from Chandler in the wake of several brutal injuries that have depleted the quarterback’s collection of pass catchers.
With running back Dion Lewis and wide receiver Aaron Dobson done for the season, wide receiver Julian Edelman out for the foreseeable future, Gronkowski likely out Sunday against the Eagles and slot receiver Danny Amendola’s status still up in the air, Chandler will be the offense’s only skill position player in uniform for the 12th consecutive game.
