With Dante Scarnecchia set to return as the Patriots offensive line coach, the outlook for the beleaguered unit has brightened considerably.
A source said Scarnecchia is indeed coming back to the Patriots, for whom he was an assistant for 30 seasons (1982-88, 1991-2013) before retiring two years ago. And he is one of the best coaches Bill Belichick could plug into that spot.
Guys who have played for him and love him still stand by him, of course. But that also goes for the guys who curse at the mention of his name because he was so tough on them.
