The new NFL year kicked off at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, which meant trades that had been previously agreed upon could be reported to the league office in New York for confirmation. And that's what the New Orleans Saints did. The Saints announced their deal with the New England Patriots to acquire nose tackle Davon Godchaux, adding a much-needed presence to address one of their biggest weaknesses.
It's no secret the Saints run defense has gotten worse over the years. They were tied for 19th in yards allowed per carry in 2022, then 22nd in 2023, and 31st (out of 32) in 2024.
