NFL commissioner Roger Goodell called Tom Brady a “great player and . . . a great young man,” in an exclusive interview with a Canton, Ohio, newspaper yesterday.
This warm and fuzzy sentiment came one day after Goodell continued to hurl bombs at the Patriots quarterback, essentially fingering him as the mastermind of the Deflategate scheme, as both the NFL and NFLPA submitted legal briefs Friday night to U.S. District Judge Richard Berman in their litigation over the lawfulness of Brady’s four-game suspension.
Included in the NFL’s brief was the argument Brady is being punished for misconduct that goes well beyond the scope of “general awareness,” which was the finding in the Wells Report.
