Rob Gronkowski is making a big splash on the banks of the Charles River.
The former New England Patriots tight end is donating $1.2 million for the full renovation of the Charlesbank Playground on the Charles River Esplanade near the Museum of Science, according to Gov. Charlie Baker’s office.
The governor is scheduled to join Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Kathleen Theoharides, Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Jim Montgomery, and Esplanade Association Executive Director Michael Nichols at the playground Friday afternoon to accept the donation from Gronkowski and his Gronk Nation Youth Foundation.
After hanging up his Patriots cleats in 2019, Gronkowski came out of his brief retirement to join former teammate Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
