FOXBORO — It was a dominant effort put forth by Rob Gronkowski Sunday in the Patriots' 27-24 comeback win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the league rewarded the tight end for it Wednesday.
After he caught nine passes for a career-high 168 yards and a key two-point conversion, Gronkowski was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career.
On the Pats' go-ahead touchdown drive, Gronkowski caught three passes for 69 yards and finished the game with four receptions that went at least 20 yards or more.
His receiving total put him at 1,017 yards for the season, which ties him with Jason Witten and Tony Gonzalez as the only tight ends in NFL history with four seasons of 1,000 or more yards receiving.
