FOXBORO — For the third consecutive day, a strong safety wearing No. 37 was a standout at Patriots training camp.
Rookie Jordan Richards was covering 6-foot-7 tight end Scott Chandler in a one-on-one drill as the tight end ran a deep pattern. Richards stayed in lockstep with Chandler. When a high arcing throw landed in Chandler’s hands, Richards leaped up and ripped the ball from his grasp. The incompletion marked his third impact play in as many practices.
Richards made a splash on the opening day of training camp when he intercepted backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s first pass.
