FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots suffered a 1-2 punch Wednesday when they had to place running back Rex Burkhead and rookie linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley on injured reserve.
Burkhead suffered a neck injury sometime in the second half against the Lions Sunday night.
It’s unclear what Bentley’s ailment is at this point.
Burkhead has been bitten frequently by the injury bug during his career, including several times during his season and a half in New England. He suffered a knee injury in camp and also a concussion earlier in the season.
Bentley was one of the defensive standouts through camp and the first three games of the season.
