Patriots running back Dion Lewis suffered an ACL tear on Sunday and will miss the season, the NFL Network and ESPN reported.
Lewis left Sunday’s game after suffering a non-contact knee injury.
His absence will leave a big hole in the Patriots offense, as Lewis had 622 yards from scrimmage this season.
Lewis, out of football last year, became a big part of Tom Brady's offense in a hurry. He had four touchdowns in seven games this season and became an invaluable tool as an elusive runner in the Patriots offense.
LeGarrette Blount stepped up and ran for 129 yards in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Redskins when Lewis went down.
