Ryan Wendell's first season as a Patriots captain got off to a disappointing start.
Now, it's over.
Wendell will be placed on injured reserve today to make room for Bryan Stork's activation from short-term IR, according to ESPN. The free-agent-to-be suffered a knee ailment that first appeared on Wednesday's injury report, and he was limited all week in practice and listed as doubtful yesterday.
Wendell, who was inactive for the first five games of the regular season, missed the majority of training camp while recovering from offseason surgery, which played a role in being inactive for the season opener against the Steelers.
