It appears that J.C. Jackson is indeed headed for free agency. According to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New England Patriots are not expected to use the franchise tag to keep the Pro Bowl cornerback from entering the open market on March 16.
If Jackson becomes an unrestricted free agent, he will garner considerable interest. The 26-year-old, after all, is one of the best defensive backs in football and a legitimate number one option at the cornerback position.
An undrafted free agent in 2018, Jackson has appeared in a combined 67 regular season and playoff games over the course of his career.
