The New England Patriots are expected to sign former Washington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Gibson recorded 65 carries for 265 yards and a touchdown on the ground with Washington in 2023. More importantly, he added a bit more to the receiving role with 48 receptions for 389 yards and two touchdowns. He split time in the backfield with Brian Robinson Jr. last season.
Gibson will add to a Patriots’ backfield that includes Rhamondre Stevenson as the primary back. He will give the Patriots offense a receiving threat at the position, as well as a good third-down back.
